This is a look through my dating past. Some names have been changed or omitted. And as long as my memory serves me right, this should be a complete list (as of posting it) and in chronological order.

I’m starting this from my college years – but if you really want to know I had 12 “boyfriends/relationships” before then (with the first being in 1997). I’m not really counting those as anything too significant. Anyway. The list is 2003 – Present. (Most of which is post-college, 2007 and forward.) Here we go…

The Ex (Sean) – My first and only college boyfriend. We started dating the second or third week into my frosh year. I was quickly enamored with this mutton-chopped guy with a blue Mohawk. We dated on and off until the summer after my sophomore year – after he had graduated. He was my first, as I was his. I was in love, or what I thought was love. He wasn’t. So he ended. It was the right thing.

GC#1 – He had graduated before me, and was visiting campus… we were at a party together, and this is when beer decided to end out friendship… So after two beers I was drunk. (Not sloppy drunk, but still feeling it.) We decided to head back to my room, where lots and lots and lots of making out happened.

GC#2 – He was a class or two below me, and had a little bit of a reputation around campus. We had made out after the Halloween progressive, and on our way back to the dorms he got distracted by a group of girls in his class. Anyway, senior year we hooked up on night. We had this ‘flirt-hate’ relationship, and that night it was flirt, which lead to “come over”, which lead to…. Yeah….

GC#3 – Another guy a class below me. And another one I had made out with during my junior year. Fast forward to after I had moved away to the city and I’m visiting for a friend’s wedding. At the After-Reception Party, we made eyes, flirted a little, then I went back to my friend’s house… where he latter ended up. And I ended up doing something on the front porch… A show for all the Main Street truckers?

The Rocker – Met him craigslist. Long hair, about my height. The first date we ended up meeting one of his friends and seeing Transformers together. We sort of stayed friends until a few months later.. then I went over to his house, stayed the night, fooled around… then we sort of lost contact.

The Lost Child – Met him on craigslist too. Showed up wearing a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles shirt. He ate my ramen (DON’T BE GROSS!). We watched Milo & Otis together. Pretty sure we made out some. Also fell asleep together. He had no direction in life.

The Crazy One – Met him on craigslist as well. He had been discharged from the army. He wore crazy platform goth boots shipped from Italy. He played synth in some weird religious goth band. We made out. I told him no sex ‘cause I didn’t want to rush things again. Using the word “again” sent him off because apparently I have baggage… however it should be said that I wasn’t allowed to cheat on him because that’s happened to him in the past… Also, he considered making out more intimate than sex. Called it “soul kissing”… I stopped meeting people from craigslist after this.

The Virginian – Met him through okc. He was older, 30… But a lot of fun to hang out with. We got coffee, went back to his place, watched a movie, made out a lot… I stayed the night. He slept over at my place at least once. Outside of making out nothing ever happened. Decided we were better as friends.

Shipping Room Guy – One of my co-workers at the University. We went to a Hawks game together with other co-workers. He, myself, and another one of the shipping guys went back to his house. Got really drunk. A bit of making out and wondering hands. Yep.

Douchebag #1 & Douchbag #2 – I was really drunk. I don’t want to talk about it.

Adam – Met him through my friend Dan (who I met online). Only made out a few times. Some wondering hands too. But we’re just friends.

Potluck Guy #1 – Met through Dan. He drove me home one night, and was a bit too tired and well, drunk, to drive back home so he stayed over (in the living room)… but not before a goodnight make out session.

Potluck Guy #2 – Met through Dan. He hosted the potluck with his roommate. After a decent amount of wine… well… yeah… Lots-o-making out. He came over to my place once for a date of sorts, aka more making out. Decided maybe we were better as friends.

Sweater Boy – Met online. Went on one date to see my friend Andy’s band play. He’s getting his MFA in Creative Writing, so we talked a lot about writing and literature. Train gets to my stop and I ask if he wants to come over. Things ended up in the bedroom.

The Neighbor – Met online. We exchanged a lot of emails and IMed a lot before we finally met in person. And well, had and I had an arrangement. F-buddies and nothing more. I had a first with him too… and was caught off guard when it happened.

One of the guys from the concert – Met him at a Mucca Pazza concert. Made out with him and another guy at the show. This one came home with me. Only made out… just wasn’t feelin’ it.

Mr. Funny – Met online. We had a shared love of China, since we had both been there. Chemistry in the bedroom just wasn’t there…

The Bandmate – Met through my band, obviously. He was leaving and so we went out with another friend of ours… After making out for a while, I decided to give him a little going away present… in our friend’s car… (SORRY!)

The Boy – Met online. You’ve read a lot about him already. There was happiness, then not so happiness. Then no talking, then talking again, then hooking up. We still talk occasionally.

The one I almost killed – Met online. Walked to the lake, talked, decided to come back to my house… fooled around… then he almost died of an allergic reaction to my cats. It wasn’t like I didn’t tell him have TWO cats…

The Idiot – Met through my brother. We fooled around after my brother’s wedding reception… and then he came to visit… I wasn’t feeling it… and then he threatened to sue me, you remember that, right?

The Comedian – Met online. Went out for drinks at the bar near my house… went back to my house to make out… then hooked up.

Frank – Met through his sister/online. I really enjoyed my time with him… things just didn’t work out.

The Musician – Met through mutual friends/musicians. He was older, really sweet, and a giver. Really enjoyed my time with him… and well, things in the bedroom were great too. He’s now dating another friend of mine, and I think they’re a great and cute couple.

The Hacker – Met online. Turns out we have some mutual friends. Made out some… but decided it wasn’t right.

4-Day – Met online. Got all caught up in the romantic acts, the flowers and him being sweet. He is a really sweet guy, just not the right one for me. Oh, we hooked up. Duh.

The Macedonian – Met at a Mucca Pazza concert. Went back to his house, hooked up, left my phone at his place. I went to get it the next day, and stayed over again. Not the story you were hoping for? We just started talking at the concert, and at one point he asked if I wanted to make out. Make out with a sexy European dude? YES. After the show, I didn’t realize we were going back to his place, I thought we were going to meet his friends at another bar. He’s got an adorable dog, which seemed to take to me really quickly. He smokes, and smokes pot – two qualities I don’t necessarily like, but tolerate. He brings me coffee in bed, after we wake up (generally near or after noon). We talk about music, random life stuff, and I ask about Macedonian a lot. I haven’t seen him in a while, but we text every once in a while. I don’t really know what he’s looking for, or (honestly) what I want from it.

Jaron – Met in college. He was in Sean’s class, and well he was closer friends with Sean than with me. We’ve been reconnecting online a lot lately. A LOT. He’s cute, and funny, and I get unbelievably excited when I get an email or IM or @-reply from him… It’s still all very new so the butterflies are very much present. I’ve always had a weakness for GC guys – it’s just nice to have someone who shares some of the same ideals I do, or at least understands them. But in our reconnecting we’ve found a lot in common (like our shared loathing for cilantro). I haven’t seen him in about five years. He’s coming to visit me really soon. He doesn’t live in the city. So if things were to happen, there are some things to think about and discuss. But, regardless, I’m excited to see him… and it might not need to be said… but I really like him…

Sunday night I went out with Dani and Geordan to the Green Mill for the Poetry Slam.

This was my first poerty slam, and well, I hadn’t known much of what to expect. Anything I’ve heard about poetry slams has probably come from Adam, a person who’s attended his fair share of them. I’ve heard stories about the typical angry feminist poets or the over analytical “deep” ones… but I think mostly, my preconceptions were about female poets. I’ve got this idea that there’s a lot of charged up pissy women who either talk about their bodies, moan about being objectified and the victim, or are just wanting to bitch about everything. Now, I understand, this is probably only a very small handful of female poets out there… but they’re the ones that get stuck in my mind.

Personally, I’d love to be able to write intelligent, emotional, provokative, personal poetry… something I’d be okay reading outloud at something like a slam or having others read on their own schedule. But I tend to make a joke out of it… While I think anyone can be capable of writing poetry, I don’t necessarily consider myself capable of writing good poetry.. or satifactionary poetry… Not to a standard I’d be okay with.

I do love writing, and would love to get paid for it — not for some major plans of massive profit, but merely to support myself and be able to buy some fun toys now and then (like a scooter. or a new macbook pro.) … I’m not to a level of blogging like dooce… nor do I have the time or motivation to write anything for any kind of publication. I know I can make time, but well, with things how they are I do need to make sure my financial situation is pretty secure.

I admire those who take the time to work on their craft, profitable or not.

I cannot say it enough: Mucca Pazza never fails to deliver.
They’re like the anti-fail… which for a large group of nerds is always an achievement.

Anyway, their show at the Bottom Lounge was amazing. There was a really great crowd — a lot of people dancing and everyone was just having a good time. As per usual with MP concerts, I squirmed my way towards the front, landing myself about 4 people back. Close enough to see everything, but out of range to get hit by the band (which really, I’ve been right up on the stage before, and it’s still just as awesome there). I don’t think you really can pick a bad spot in the crowd at a MP concert.. however, if you want to dance around you should really be up front. That’s were the rest of us who love to dance around will be.

If you’ve never been to a MP show before, I highly suggest checking them out. You can search youtube all you want, but you really won’t get a true feeling for them until you’ve seen them live. I have yet to go to a live show as fun as one of theirs. They’re great musicians, entertainers, and all-around great folk (as I’ve mentioned numerous times). I mean, I still turn into a little fan girl at the shows. So when they were marching in, and Mark put his hand on my head I seriously giggled with joy. Hang around after the show and you’ll get a chance to chat with them — it was through doing that I was able to get to know a few of the members and then get involved in the reading band. (Which reading band is happening tonight: more info at Mucca’s site; notice the circular reference back to Wench there.)

As always, I tried to drag a lot of people to the show… I got Jason to come out with me, and he brought his friend Scott… (We showed up early enough to have some pre-Mucca drinks… which I will say, coming in from outside, a shot of whiskey really does it.) And since Sara was filming for Venus, Adam and Dan showed up too. Dan, being Dan, was picked out to do a little solo on Moriya with student conductor Jeffrey Thomas (always a great song/performance). Dan tends to get soloed out in a crowd. It’s his nature.

Anyway. It was an amazing show and I’m looking forward to Reading Band tonight — from the email list it should be a good turn out. If you’re interested in joining, either contact Mark via the methods on MP’s site or leave a comment here with your email (all comments are monitored, so I’ll edit out your email before it posts if you’ve got more to say).

And now to leave you with some goodies! Videos from the concert — a little bit from K12 and a full ensemble of one of my favorite songs (hell, I guess I love them all… but this one is quite enjoyable).

If you’ve ever wondered where my dorkiness comes from, yeah here’s it is. All from mom. She’s perfectly okay with it too.. which is awesome. She feels the need to let me know whenever she sees a monkey, and is constantly sending me Get Fuzzy comics or lolcats. And while some moms steal their children’s instruments because of the noise… my mom stole my electric guitar and my electric bass (which I stole from my brother) so she could play them. Every Sunday she rocks out in her church’s praise band.. and yes, she does jump and play barefoot. Pretty awesome for a grandma.

3. Timmy!
Despite the typical older brother things (see: punching, headlocks, wrestling, cracked noses), my brother is really important to me. I mean, yeah. (see: the wench) I still look up to him a lot. And if I’m going to go shopping with anyone, Timmy is among my first choices. I like his style, and he tends to find good things for me. I don’t always agree with things he’s doing, or some of his choices… but I love my bubby. And hopefully within a year’s time we’ll have similar tattoos (cherry blossoms).

4. Dad, Cynthia & the girls
Actually.. I want to say, I am amazingly thankful for Cynthia. She is a blessing to our family. Other than Karen, my late stepmom, I can’t think of another woman to join our family and help raise my sisters. Her humor works really well with dad’s — so that’s been great for him. She’s well traveled, and sees the importance of a good education and higher education (meaning my sisters might be convinced to go to college even more so). She’s taken on a lot — never been married and now she’s got 4 girls at home, two adult children and a grandchild. She’s pretty amazing in my eyes. And as always, I’m thankful for the love and care that my dad gives me. And I’m growing to appreciate my younger sisters more and more.

5. Family in general
My whole family is awesome — and I’m thankful for all of them… all of the grandparents (5 grandmas and 4 grandpas)… the aunts and uncles… all the cousins… I’ve got a pretty awesome and very supporting family and that’s been amazing.

6. My job
While I could do without the data entry and some of the tediousness.. I am indeed thankful for a full time job with benefits where not only am I paid well, but I’m appreciated. I’ve got a boss who’s really understanding and actually is concerned about me and my goals outside of the facility. Not many people are this lucky right out of school. Plus, having a nice income with few bills.. well… my wardrobe, entertainment, and video game budget has definitely increased. (I get to play with lasers and liquid nitrogen. bonus.)

7. The amazing group of people I call my friends
Seriously. I feel pretty lucky. I don’t even think I could name them all. There have been a select few who have really been there for me and have seen me at my best and worse, and yet they still love me. Two in particular I practically see as sisters now: Chrizzle and Mennogirl. They’re pretty amazing. And I’ve got my uber spectacular group of GC Kids whom I love and miss. There’s my work friends (George whom I enjoy our evening walks to the train; and Dani and Meaghan who can only be described as wonderfully zany). Topping everything off with some really amazing people who I’ve met recently — most of whom I’ve met thanks to Dan and Adam… The potluck group… The awesome folk of the reading band and the Mucca Pazza memebers I’ve been lucky enough to get to know… I’ve really got an amazing group of people in my life right now. (Who else would put up with velociraptor attacks and nonstop dorky nerdom?)

8. The Kits.
Crazy as they may be… I love Tuija and Kaija. They are just awesome little wonderpets. Psycho little wonderpets sometimes… but awesome. Two kittens are a bit much, but it wouldn’t feel right only having one of them. Definitely a package deal. And I’m appreciating how they’re morphing into cats and are enjoying a good cuddle.

9. Buffalo/Hot wings.
you taste so good. there needs to be more of you in my life.

Seriously.

I feel like I am the only person who hasn’t seen the Dark Knight.
At least in my social group.

And for the past couple of weeks I’ve seen countless pictures of my friends, and others, dressed up like the late Heath Ledger… Pretty much always with the same caption, “Why so serious” … !!! (yes, at this point I can only express my frustration through punctuations.)

It’s not like I didn’t try to see the movie. The Dark Knight has been one giant epic fail for me.

- Opening day, my roommates go without me. All three of them (this was before Libby moved in). I mean, they went to a matinee, and I was at work (and even worked until 7 that day).. but still, I kinda would have liked to have been invited or known about it.. we could have waited ONE day so I could go… but I got over it with the assumptions that one or more of them might be up for seeing it again.

- Actually going to a theater with Libby and Zach, this time, I really think I’m going to get to see it. We get there, and well, they only have one seat left. We give up and walk about Navy Pier. We also discuss making another attempt later — which doesn’t happen. L & Z see it together later. I’m not disappointed because dating people do that whole “us” time thing. And I try to encourage that sometimes too.

- I ask Adam if he’ll go since only two theaters in the area are playing it. Unfortunately he’s seen it like 3 times or something, twice on IMAX.. so he’s not all that interested.

- Dan invited me up to the far north to see it with another friend of his. Said friend ends up not wanting to see a movie with me, or maybe just in general. Movie doesn’t happen, and Dan feels bad… but I assure him that I’m okay because well, it’s not the first time and it’s really okay.

Basically after that I gave up.

So I still haven’t seen it. Not that it’s a huge thing. I generally don’t go out to movies. I like theaters — and well, love theater popcorn (even after working in a theater for just over 2 years in high school) — I’m just kinda cheap. Well, let me rephrase that. I’m selectively cheap. I’ll spend money on clothing, shoes, books, and video games… But for some reason paying for a movie ticket is different. However, if the right person asked me, I might be willing to change.

This weekend, I took a break from my Wii (just purchased on Friday), and joined Sara, Adam, Dan, and Dan’s sister Susan for a night of nerdcore.

My previous experience with nerdcore has been through the wonderful and simply rad Mucca Pazza. They might possibly be one of my favorite bands. I’ve also gotten to know a handful of their members, and I actually play with a few of them once a month in the community reading band I’m in.

Anyway… nerdcore hip-hop is something pretty new to me. And, well, as a young, attractive female with nerdy inclinations… why would I miss out on this? I typically find in any nerd-related events that the numbers are in my favor as far as the gender ratios.

So I got to see Dual Core, Former Fat Boys, Whoremoans, YT Cracker, MC Lars and MC Frontalot. It was a packed night that probably didn’t start until sometime between 11-11:30p. I don’t think MC Frontalot started until after 2a…

FFB & Dino

I think Former Fat Boys was the act that sort of stuck out the most, as far as sort of not quite fitting in with the rest of the night… Not sure. It could have been style, it could have been what he rapped about, it could have just been him… Maybe he just didn’t seem nerdy enough for me. He did how ever take off his pants, and even had a dude in a dinosaur suit come out for two songs… The dino however just walked around and occasionally threw his hands up. I was expecting more.

Whoremoans had one song that well, I thoroughly enjoyed. F- the Princess. The beat was good, and song was catchy… and well… Sara and I just sort of laughed a lot during it. Granted, we did that throughout the show. Especially when one of Adam’s grad school friends licked Whoremoan’s man boob. Seriously.

Anyway… Sara, Susan and I were basically just hanging out in the back (up in the seats), waiting for MC Frontalot. Not that any of us were familiar with him… Definitely worth waiting for. And well… MC Frontalot is kinda hot. Even hotter when he’s preforming.

MC Frontalot @ Penny Arcade Expo

The night was good. The only downside was this small group of obnoxiously drunk people. I mean, seriously, who tells the performer that you have a better tattoo than they do (though a zombie unicorn is decent)… But yeah, these drunk kids just sort of distracted from everything… The easiest way to be a giant douche at a concert is to get amazingly drunk, sing a long louder than the artist, and then assume this concert is all about you and just for you…. Personally I like to think that MC Frontalot wasn’t all that happy with at least one of them… If only I had a nerf bat with me (nerf just to avoid unnecessary lawsuits on assault and all that)…

We (including some more new friends) all went to the Pick Me Up for some post-concert food. Being that it was about 3a or maybe later, I opted for a chai… Adam got ice cream, which I thought was silly since it is cold out. And that’s all I’ve got for that. … I arrived home at 5a… I could have stayed up and continued with Guitar Hero… but I was one sleepy dinosaur. (and no, not the type of dinosaur FFB had…)

Videos in part 2.

This is from my halloween night… see: this post.

As we were walking, there was a lone man on the side walk.. we passed him, said happy halloween and just continued…. From behind us we heard “Hey t-rex! Hey! Hey! Hey T-rex!”… Our Dragon turned around, and as he had done other times that night, went “I’m a dragon” with a good flop of his wings. We continued on… as did this man… he continued to follow with us. Eventually putting his arms around Sara and I — who were trying to get to the van as quickly as possible and were a few feet in front of the guys… This is when I number of scenarios started racing through my mind. As well as “where are the guys?” From what I could tell though, Sara had a pretty good grip on herself, and so I wasn’t terribly worried. This man made it very clear to us that he had other plans for Sara and I… (Again, “where are the guys” was going through my head…)

Once in the van, which I entered quickly and found myself in the farthest corner possible… U-Turn closed the door… This man decided to “help”… opening and closing the door multiple times saying “Let me help you” — eventually stopping one last time, with a look on his face that was all the reason for me to be concerned, a with a quick hand, stole U-Turn’s hat, closed the door and began walking away. Dan, however, wouldn’t get in got out of the van… The hat was thrown down, U-Turn raced out to get it… and after he was in the van, the man had run up to us, over the front of the van and began harassing Dan… who was still not in out of the van.

Some point during this last bit, I decided enough was enough — as had Adam. He left the van to encourage Dan to join us so we could leave…. I found my cell phone and decided that police involvement was what I wanted. Now, I realize, 911 is for emergencies.. and well, we were just being harassed — but since I lacked the number for the police department, and I just wanted to get someone out here quick… I dialed those three numbers. While I was busy explaining what what happening — getting disconnected once, they called back — Dan was still talking with this man. A friend of the man had run out to try to end the situation and take his friend home… Since I was in the car, I wasn’t aware of what was being said. (Dan has since shared his version of the story, and it confirms that this man had other plans for Sara and I…)

The situation ended — we all went home, and I don’t know if the police ever showed up. I don’t know if Dan, or any of the others, saw the situation like I did. I saw the potential for things to go really badly. Had this man had a weapon… Had there not been 5 of us.. Had this man’s friend not come…

I was pretty shaken up by this for most of the night… On the ride home, I attempted to fight back tears… eventually I just laid down with my head in Adam’s lap and tried to focus on other things…
I had been taken advantage of and assaulted in my past — even as recent as this summer…. As this man approached us, my mind went racing back to those events… The men from my past who disregarded what I wanted… The memories I try to ignore and move past… Maybe without those memories I could have been more calm in this situation, realizing that it wasn’t going to go badly.

Others can retell this story, joking about how terrible a night we had… And a part of me wonders if maybe I had over reacted, taken it too seriously… … regardless. That night is over, and I made it home.

I went straight from work to the Southern Lands of Pilsen — a good practice commute for when I finally move (~90 minutes)… As soon as I arrived I was greeted by hordes, literally hordes, of children. It was worse than zombies, these mad packs of costumed children demanding sweets. Seeing as I was outnumbered, I resisted the urge to knock some of them over to steal their candy. (Okay, so I’m not a terrible person and wouldn’t really do that — but I did want candy.)

Eventually I made it through the sticky and loud see of small peoples and their adults and found myself at Adam and Sara’s where I would get ready for the rest of my evening. I, of course, was going as a Velociraptor. A Sexy Velociraptor. (Which mainly consisted of tube top, skirt, ridiculous heals and a lot of body glitter.) Adam became a jester, complete with juggling balls. Sara transformed into a naughty parking meeter. And our dragon, Dan, met up with us just in time to hit the second house in the progressive we had planned on attending.

Joining Weiss & Celestial for some mulled wine

Some of the Mennos of Pilsen had organized a progressive, a party that progresses from house to house, each location offering a different type of alcoholic beverage (or in this case, some added food too)… House no. 2 happened to be that of Weiss and Celestial’s. We actually arrived before the rest of the party had progressed there.

All-in-all, we stayed for just two houses, including Weiss & Celestial’s. And somehow, one of the street sign kids (the U-Turn) ended up joining us for the rest of our night… (I actually know how he joined us, but I’m going to just ignore that for now.) So we were off… I was barefoot again — which yes, I know, typically not the smartest move in the city, but my heals weren’t made for walking.

Party no.2 for the night landed us in the heart of Boystown. We circled the area for nearly an hour looking for parking — which yes was exhausting, but we did see quite a number of interesting folk about. Nearly every woman was some form of sexy/naughty _____. Many costumes I had seen online at Wet Seal and other stores. Sexy Freddie Krueger was pretty awesome. Anyway… our Dragon Dan decided to just drop us off.. and we began searching for the location.

We thought was had found it… entered the building and went upstairs… and discovered that there was a lacking of collegiate linguistic kids there. Instead, what we stumbled upon was a bear party. Adam and U-Turn left after a quick look around. (Not that they necessarily had anything against bears, it just clearly wasn’t the party we were looking for.) Sara and I stuck around and enjoyed ourselves for a little bit. Despite the fact that we were the only females around, no one seemed to be concerned. We struck up a conversation with some — Sara and the bear had a common connection of Pilsen… I’m only regretting in not sampling some of the foods that were there. Stuffed mushrooms (which I wouldn’t eat.. ever — who eat fungus?), amazing cheeses, punch, cakes, cookies… it was amazing. However, with the boys being outside and we still had that linguistic’s party to find… we bid adieu to our new bear friends and headed out. Apparently, though it was the right apartment number, it was the wrong street.

One block up we were at the right party… Sara and I found more drinks, we all found miscellaneous peoples to talk to, and U-Turn found a girl who wanted his number… However, we still had at least one more party to hit, so we headed off yet again.

Finally at Logan’s Square, we were nearly at the location when Sara recieved a call stating that the party had been shut down and there wasn’t a point in continuing there. We met up with Evil Kyle (the callee) and discussed the unfortunate event, and decided that since it was somewhere around 2:30 or possibly close to 3 am that we should maybe begin heading south.

What followed next was not enjoyable… and resulted in my first (and hopefully last) 911 call. …

We all made it home, dropped U-Turn off… and Dan the Dragon headed home. I crashed at Sara and Adam’s… there was yet another party for tomorrow…

… Over all… I seriously only saw three Palin’s… no McCains or Obamas…. maybe 3 Jokers, one Old School Joker….

this is a complete waste of a saturday night.
a completely disappointment.

all I’ve done today is get an x-ray of my neck taken at the hospital (I’ve been in a lot of pain this past week, especially the last three days)…

But tonight is just a massive void.

It seems everyone has plans… I could have. Dan and Adam are going to/at a costume party. With my pain medication and muscle relaxers, I’m not supposed to consume alcohol — which I can go to a party and not drink, Dan certainly does. Last night at the Green Mill I didn’t drink either. I think it’s more of the number of unfamiliar people. I’d rather just spend tonight with my friends, enjoying each other’s company and conversation, eating cookies and ice cream.

I’m starting to regret not being in the mood for a party.

My weekend started with seeing Deerhoof at the Metro. Adam, Weiss and I decided to meet up for all you can eat sushi beforehand. Indeed. The ninja roll wasn’t terrible (though Adam didn’t like it), but the tofu roll went over well (as I knew it would).
Anyway. Deerhoof included free tortilla chips and bread. Plus, it was just an all around enjoyable concert. I wish I was a little asian girl. And a drummer. I’ve decided I sort of like (good) female drummers*.

my latest addiction

This beauty pwnd my saturday. Seriously.
I had thought about purchasing one for a while. I nearly bought one while in NYC a few years back with WGCS — we were at a radio conference. There was much win for the Globe that trip. (We brought a Wii with us.)
Anyway. DS. Shiny. I bought two games to start with — Brain Age and Mario Party — but will gladly take old used games off anyone’s hands. Hell, I’ll take new games too.
I have a feeling my mom will buy me Super Monkey Ball for christmas…

Sunday was a national holiday. Hopefully you didn’t miss out on it. It’s too bad if you did.
Libby’s birthday.
Much fun was had.
I started my day with her, attending her church — which mostly made me miss attending Meeting. I might start going again… After church was lunch at Buffalo Joe’s — which will be featured on Wing Chicks soon. I played more DS… and then met up with Libby and her man Zach… and we all progressed to dinner at a tapas restaurant. Becca, jrosei, and Mennogirl met up with us a bit later (apparently The Google can be wrong). … I skipped out before dessert.

Eventually I found my way to a Pink Line, and was heading to the Southern Lands of Pilsen.
Potluck is always a good time.
I succeeded at spending more than 30 minutes with Dan too. (And I’m starting to believe that he’s possibly one of my best dressed friends.)
My day concluded with good people, good conversation, and more wine. (Oh. Yeah. Zombie Zin = not half bad and pretty easy to drink.) I’m thoroughly enjoying this attractive group of people and definitely am looking forward to Sunday evenings. And well, I think it’s been decided that there will be a migration from the Northern Territories to the South… in less than a year.

*(asian) female drummer not found in deerhoof.. but in one of the openers…
